Liquid Sensing with a Metamaterial Biosensor Featuring a Split-Ring Resonator

摘要
In this research, we presented a metamaterial biosensor with a split-ring resonator for liquid sensing. By etching the glass substrate, the strength of the electric field coupling with the analyte is increased, thereby enhancing the sensitivity of the biosensor and forming a microfluidic channel. The biosensor's sensing performance was assessed by varying the thickness and refractive index of the sample, demonstrating a total theoretical sensitivity of 200 GHz/RIU (refractive index unit). The proposed structure offers a label-free and ultra-sensitive biosensing solution for applications including biological sensing.
