摘要
Supercapacitive swing adsorption (SSA) of carbon dioxide (CO2) is a novel electrochemical technique for capturing CO2 from gas mixtures, utilizing electric double layers to achieve reversible gas adsorption. This review provides an indepth analysis of the underlying scientific principles of SSA, the role of activated carbon electrodes, electrolytes, and the impacts of various charging protocols. By exploring recent advancements in SSA device design, energy consumption metrics, and scalability, this article highlights the potential of SSA to address large-scale CO2 capture challenges. The discussion offers valuable insights into optimizing SSA for improved sorption kinetics, and reduced energy costs, ultimately aiming to establish SSA as a viable, eco-friendly solution for CO2 management in both point source and direct air capture applications.
