摘要
Erosion routinely takes place on the surface of materials in high-temperature conditions. This high-temperature erosive wear results in poorly-performing machine parts resulting in increased costs, as well as this phenomenon is detrimental to the environment. To diminish excessive spending and ensure the eco-friendly industrial operation it is a crucial task to formulate a suitable high-temperature erosive wear-resistant material. Among the most used wear-resistant materials the high chromium multi component white cast iron (MWCI) is considerably utilized due to its notable wear resistance characteristics. The impact of Cr addition to MWCI in various amounts to undertake the erosive wear in elevated temperatures is examined in this paper. The comparison of erosive wear resistance performance was investigated among 18Cr, 27Cr, and 35Cr MWCI . The addition of a higher percentage of Cr leads to precipitation of hard eutectic M7C3 abundantly in refined form, therefore the carbide volume fraction (CVF) is observed higher in the material with higher Cr content. The microstructure is found to be gamma+\documentclass[12pt]{minimal} \usepackage{amsmath} \usepackage{wasysym} \usepackage{amsfonts} \usepackage{amssymb} \usepackage{amsbsy} \usepackage{mathrsfs} \usepackage{upgreek} \setlength{\oddsidemargin}{-69pt} \begin{document}$$\gamma +$$\end{document} M7C3. It is studied that the abundantly precipitated eutectic M7C3 carbides and higher carbide volume fraction lead to increased hardness value for the higher Cr content material. The high-temperature erosion test at 1173K using the alumina grits (1250 HV) as erodent shows that among the three series of test pieces (18Cr, 27Cr, and 35Cr MWCI) the specimen with the highest Cr content performs better as erosive wear-resistant material at elevated temperature.
