摘要
Aorto-enteric fistula (AEF) is defined as an abnormal communication between the aorta or aortoiliac tree with the gastrointestinal tract and presents as catastrophic gastrointestinal bleeding. The reported annual incidence of primary aorto-enteric fistula is 0.007 per million (only 250 cases reported in literature). Due to the risk of progression to hemorrhagic shock and the high likelihood of surgical intervention, these patients should be closely monitored. Materials and methods: : This paper includes 35 consecutive patients with ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm admitted to the Department of Vascular Surgery of the "Sf. Spiridon" County Clinical Emergency Hospital, between 2020 and 2024. Results: From the total of 35 patients 3 cases were complicated with primary aorto-digestive fistula (8,57%). 2 of the cases had aorto-duodenal fistula and 1 case had aortoenteric fistula. Conclusions: Complicated abdominal aortic aneurysm with primary aortoenteric fistula is a rare pathology that requires prompt diagnosis and urgent surgical treatment.
