摘要:
Race and ethnicity should not be used as explanatory variables for biological differences. Social determinants of health contribute to racial and ethnic differences in disease incidence and prevalence. Multiple areas in laboratory medicine where race and/or ethnicity are used warrant scrutiny, including prenatal serum screening and typical neutrophil count with Fy(a-b-) status. Inclusion of people with diverse ancestral backgrounds in research and reference interval development is critical in achieving health equity.
