Unflattening Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes by Electromigration of Fillers

摘要
A mobile microprobe incorporated into a transmission electron microscope was used to induce electromigration of Co nanorod fillers inside multi-walled carbon nanotubes as a means of modifying the nanotube morphology. In the case that Co nanorods inside a cylindrical portion of a nanotube migrated through a flattened portion, this region was unflattened. A force of approximately 8.8 x 10(-24) N was required to perform this morphological transformation.
