ASSESSMENT OF SUSTAINABLE CONSTRUCTION PRACTICES IN THE CONTEXT OF THE CIRCULAR ECONOMY

Construction activities are among the main causes of the greenhouse effect, high consumption of natural resources, production of a huge amount of waste and energy consumption throughout the life cycle of buildings. The concept of sustainable construction has been developed for more than 30 years, applied in many countries around the world and aims to introduce sustainable construction practices related to reducing energy consumption as well as reducing climate change. The author of this article aims to present the state of sustainable construction practices in the context of the circular economy in different countries around the world and to give recommendations for the promotion of sustainable construction practices in Bulgaria.
