摘要
This manuscript presents analytical equations for designing a three-mirror layout afocal freeform telescope. The equations are derived directly from the Fermat principle and can be useful when designing optical systems from scratch. These systems can be later optimized to meet harder specifications and constraints. The new equations are tested with an illustrative example, an afocal telescope, confirming the veracity of this paper's mathematical model.
