摘要
A strain of bacteria that can convert waste polyethylene (PE) into a form of biodegradable spider silk is being developed by researchers at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, New York, USA. What the researchers call bio-inspired spider silk, owing to its similarity to the silk that spiders use to spin their webs, could be used to produce textiles, cosmetics and medicines.
