摘要
With the merits of simple construction and high power density, permanent magnet vernier machines (PMVMs) have gained extremely interests by many researchers at home and abroad. The principle and electromagnetic characteristics of PMVMs with different topologies have been analyzed and calculated by extensive literatures, which verify that PMVM is a promising candidate for direct drive application. In terms of the different stator topologies, PMVM is categorized into two types of single-tooth open-slot and multi-teeth split-poles, respectively. This paper analyzes its field modulation principle and characteristics, overviews the existing PMVMs with particular reference to their stator and rotor structural features, and then two novel embranchments of PMVMs entitled multi-teeth split-poles flux-focusing and memory PMVMs are proposed to improve the torque density and to enlarge the speed regulation region, respectively. In addition, the PMVMs in different applications fields are discussed and summarized. Finally, the relative theory and technology development trends of the PMVM are prospected and predicted. The works of this paper can provide some reference for theoretical study and engineering applications of PMVMs. © 2016 Chin. Soc. for Elec. Eng.
