摘要
An attempt should be made to determine the reason for the failure before repairing a pothole. The most effective method of repair is a full-depth asphalt patch - that is, asphalt patching material placed directly on the prepared subgrade with no intervening layers of gravel, sand, etc. The asphalt mixture used for patching may be hot or cold. It is important to make repairs when the weather is good. If the patch is placed when the temperature is much below 50 F, compaction of the asphalt mixture may be impaired, since the mix will lose heat more rapidly at the lower temperatures.
