Determining the shell diameter of kettle-type reboilers - widely used in the chemical and refining industries - to minimize liquid entrainment in the exit vapor is the main difficulty in the design of the reboiler. A method has been worked out to easily estimate the possibility and severity of entrainment and, hence, determine proper shell diameter.
