EFFECTS OF OILFIELD CORROSION INHIBITORS ON NITRILE ELASTOMERS.

The paper summarizes research in which a number of NBR elastomers were exposed to simulated oilfield environments. The variables in these experiments included the presence and absence of corrosion inhibitors and H//2S. The subsequent analysis examines the effects of the corrosion inhibitors on retained modulus and retained elongation of the elastomers in environments with and without H//2S. This provides insight into how oilfield corrosion inhibitors influence the reaction between NBR and H//2S, and indicates whether or not they can catalyze this reaction.
