Plastics in Agricultural and Horticultural Applications.

Every third employed person in Germany follows an occupation or profession which is directly or indirectly connected with agriculture. This is a field where plastics are widely used whose value has become really clear only through the present raw material shortage. The plastics applications in agriculture can no longer be replaced - they have become indispensable, despite rising prices. From a range of proven applications a number of examples, typical for the developments which have taken place in recent years, are described, such as the use of plastics film and sheeting to bring on the harvest, for preventing the growth of weeds, for improving quality in viniculture or for making silage, and for storing products such as fertilizers or grain.
