The paper presents the flowchart of a thyristor phase-shifter, in which there is no phase control for the turn on of a thyristor. This flowchart ensures the maximum possible number of phase-shifting steps if the number of windings in a power supply transformer is given. Thus for four secondary windings of a transformer 80 steps are made available. All voltage steps are the same but phase-shifting steps are different. The authors consider the states appearing when the windings in a voltage-additional transformer of a phase-shifter are switched. To avoid fault currents in transformer windings and open-circuits in serial networks an algorithm to switch gates has been developed. The research results are recommended to be used in developing phase-shifters of a gate type.
