摘要：
The paper shows how some data that play a minor role in the process exert a strong influence on the cost and quality of the process vessels in chemical plants and their operations. It is pointed out that there are many instances when a broad understanding of the process requirements permits a process design engineer to alter the specification just enough to place it in a classification requiring much less costly fabrication procedures. In order to make the necessary decisions, however, the process engineer must understand some of the rules and practices for pressure-vessel design and fabrication.
