The performance of a three-stage cascade system is described that was operated at the ″Freon″ Products Laboratory in conjunction with a secondary refrigerant calorimeter with the objective of demonstrating satisfactory continuous operation and the specific goal of developing an oil system that would permit such operation. R 14, R 503 and R 502 with evaporating temperatures of minus 190 F, minus 110 F and minus 29 F respectively, were used.
