摘要
This paper describes intersymbol interference of digital signals transmitted through the VSB-AM television broadcasting systems and the highest bit-rate obtainable by employing synchronous detection. The bit-rate of the digital signal transmission is restricted by the intersymbol interference caused by the overlapping of adjacent pulses. The interference resulting from some representative types of amplitude and envelope delay distortion is calculated, and the results are shown in terms of both the conventional minimum eye opening and the newly defined minimum ″eye aperture ratio″ . The maximum bit-rate can be as high as 4-6 Mbit/s in the present 6 MHz-wide television system considering the actual transmission characteristics.
