摘要
An additive applied to cotton in the textile opening line lowered the levels of card generated airborne dusts and associated microorganisms. Dust from cotton containing additive had fewer smaller particles than dust from untreated cotton. The additive altered the nominal 1:1 relationship between airborne dust levels measured by vertical elutriator and by the Continuous Aerosol Monitor (CAM) to the extent that recalibration or corrections to data would be required in the CAM system when it is used to monitor dust from additive treated cotton. The decrease in the respirable fraction of card generated dust brought about by the additive could reduce pulmonary response to the dust. The additive had little effect on yarn quality.
