Description of some techniques for simulation of signal processing in communication channels by the use of a general program for a digital computer. The method of simulation is explained and special techniques are developed for calculation of coherent and incoherent NPR in FDM/FM channels, for design of spectrum-shaping circuits which minimizes the intersymbol interference in digital transmission and for calculation of transient responses of nonlinear phase-lock loops used for acquisition of carrier phase in PSK detection.
