ANISOTROPY OF MAGNETOPHONON RESONANCE OF HOT CARRIERS IN MERCURY TELLURIDE.

Single crystals of HgTe with four different orientation were used in a study of magnetophonon oscillations of the galvanomagnetic effects exhibited when carriers were heated by a strong electric field. Measurements were carried out a 4. 2 degree K in a magnetic field H less than equivalent to 350 kOe. The positions of magnetophonon oscillations of the longitudinal magnetoresistance were strongly anisotropic on the magnetic field scale. This was in conflict with the results of calculations carried out on simple models. The H parallel left bracket 110 right bracket orientation was used in an investigation of magnetophonon oscillations of the transverse magnetoresistance and the Hall effect. A study was made of a model of magnetophonon transitions between the lower Landau level of electrons and the group of the upper hole levels.
