摘要
This paper gives an outline of the 5-year collaboration between NTT and MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) that began in October 1998. This collaboration aims laying a foundation for creating a new world of communications and computers, and developing a global information-communications industry. Firstly, the circumstances, which lead up to this collaboration is presented. Next, our common outlook for the information-communications industry is shown which is the core of our research collaboration. Lastly, the management mechanism and themes of joint research now being performed is presented.
