Use of the computer program FEMAG written in FORTRAN IV for the solution of plane stationary magnetic fields in electrical machines is reported. The distribution of the vector potentials of the magnetic field is determined using the method of finite elements and the system of finite elements; the system of algebraic equations is solved by a line superrelaxation method on a small computer EC 1010. Using the program it was possible to solve the distribution of the magnetic field in the stator yoke of an induction motor with axial ventilating channels, in the joint of a pole with the hydroalternator ring and in a turboalternator with a superconducting excitation winding.
