摘要
It is preferable that cooling towers not be installed in highly corrosive atmospheres. Once they are, it becomes expensive to move the towers. The next best solution is to take measures to protect the towers from further corrosion. This means the use of special epoxy-based paints on the exterior and/or a two-part polymer coating. Cooling tower life can be prolonged, and even extended, many years by reviewing the following steps: investigate the areas for the cause of corrosions; take steps to eliminate or minimize the culprit; investigate the use of coatings for the interior, and use a qualified person to apply the coatings, (usually the metal has to be ground down to a white metal finish before applying the coating); review any new cooling tower locations for possible elements that could create corrosive conditions for the tower.
