摘要：
Currently dependent on coal for over 70% of its primary energy needs, China is facing problems from severe urban atmospheric pollution as a result of burning about 500mn tons of coal annually. Aware of the situation, the Chinese Government is keen to develop gas use as part of its clean energy program. The country is targeting a major increase in gas consumption during the 10th Five-Year Plan as part of a long-term program to develop gas use in urban areas.
