Delay equalizers are indispensable for a guided millimeter-wave transmission system. This paper describes the system requirement for the characteristics and experimental results of equalizers at the 1. 7-GHz band. The impedance matching method at input and output ports, synthesis of a linear delay by a computer and equalization of delay distortion due to waveguide line and Butterworth filters are also presented in some detail. Experimental results show that the insertion loss of these equalizers is 0. 1 dB/ns and that the amplitude of delay ripples is less than 0. 2 ns.
