The results of investigation aimed at assessing the effects of high-temperature thermomechanical treatment in the process of drawing 18HGM steel are presented and discussed. Changes in the mechanical properties R//m, R//0//. //2 and plastic properties A//1//0//0, Z, U were determined for reductions ranging from z equals 0 to 12% at tempering temperatures of 463 and 523 K. The results obtained are compared with the mechanical properties of 18HGM steel cold drawn from the softened state. Investigations have proved that the application of high-temperature thermomechanical treatment in the course of the drawing process gives rise to very good mechanical properties and better plastic properties than are obtained by cold drawing of softened steels.
