On the Use of a Multiport for Matching Purposes.

Coupled transmission lines, previously used mostly in the design of couplers and of filters, more recently found new uses for the matching of circuits. The present study, considering the general problem of a multiport with all its ports but one terminated by loads, permits one to determine the possibilities and the limitations of this method. Use of the scattering matrix formalism and of the Smith chart yields an easier understanding of the procedure.
