ROLE OF SHEAR BANDS IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF RECRYSTALLIZATION IN CU-15 AT % AL SINGLE CRYSTALS.

In this paper an attempt is made to analyze the phenomenon of recrystallization of low stacking fault energy (SFE) single crystals under high-temperature deformation conditions and under static ones after previous cold working. Based on the results of mechanical and structural examinations of cold-water Cu-15 at. %Al single crystals (compression, rolling) it was found that the occurrence of shear bands is a factor stimulating nucleation and development of recrystallization both under dynamic and static conditions. Attention is directed to the possibility of associating strong development of dynamic recrystallization with intensive dynamic recovery, contrary to the relationship existing between the processing considered under static conditions. The results of this study point to the necessity of taking into considereration the phenomenon of in-homogeneous deformation when considering the processes of high-temperature plastic deformation of materials.
