An overview of molecular computing approaches (part II)

Non traditional molecular computing architectures including different building blocks, based on crosspoint arrays, randomized nanocells, and cellular automata, are discussed. The crosspoint array, is a regular spaced, planar grid of points accessed by a layer of x-directed row nanowires and a different layer containing y-directed column nanowires. The nanocell is a randomized two dimensional network of self assembled metal nanoparticles embedded and interconnected by a disordered matrix of switching molecules. Cellular automata is an opportune architecture for molecular computation due to their locality and simplicity.
