摘要
The success of getting quick and suitable solutions for most air pollution problems mainly depends upon the selection and use of appropriate instruments for sampling and analysis of the contaminated atmosphere. The purpose of collecting air samples is generally to determine types and properties of impurities, degree of contamination, and presence or absence of toxic or harmful substances. Since the air pollution concentration depends considerably on the meteorology of the area and it also exhibits diurnal variation, representative sampling is therefore very important. The main difficulty experienced with samplers is that the sequence of sampling resets every time when the power fails, which is not desirable. There is also no provision to know the duration of power failure. A sampler is, therefore, developed which eliminates the process of resetting when there is power failure. It switches automatically to 'Battery' by the help of special arrangement and keeps the main sampling sequence undisturbed. Suitable memory units are also provided in this sampler to record the duration of power failure during individual sampling.
