The two- and multi-phase equilibria of Al-rich Al-Mg and Al-Mg-Zn alloys were determined by isothermal tempering and quenching. The solubility of Mg and Zn in solid alpha -Al in the presence of liquid metal and beta , T and eta phases as well as its solidus was found to be lower than that obtained in previous experiments described in the literature. The results make it possible to develop mathematical relationships for theoretical determination of the phase equilibria.
