Enlargement of the design possibilities is offered by metal injection moulding of hard metal components made from fine grained tungsten carbide-base powders describes Degussa's metal injection moulding process and outlines the hardmetal shapes that can be achieved which were previously not possible by conventional powder forming processes. Covered are feedstock preparation, design criteria, economics, and parts suitable for the process.
