Ciments d'Obourg is located in Belgium, about 30 miles south of Brussels. An energy management system has been installed at this plant which has helped slow the rapid rise in the cost of electrical energy and saved a significant amount of money. This system is computer-controlled and reduces consumption of electricity at Ciments d'Obourg by monitoring demand and switching off nonessential loads, thus enabling the company to fully benefit from the possibilities of a dual-tariff billing system.
