In search for a method of simple and quick calculation of unsteady problems of a marine propeller, a quasi-steady method of calculation was examined in the light of recent progress in experimental techniques and numerical calculations of unsteady lifting surface theory. A modified quasi-steady method is proposed for unsteady response of a propeller operating in a nonuniform flow. The advantage of the proposed quasi-steady method lies in its simplicity and, therefore, it is valuable, especially in the preliminary stages of ship design.
