Several new aluminum sheet alloys for auto body applications now are commercially available and others are under development both in this country and abroad. There also is a more ductile, but still experimental, aluminum casting alloy that could be used for wheels. Steel producers have not been idle and are offering several new products with better oxidation and corrosion resistance. New wrought and cast zinc alloys also are available for decorative and structural parts, and a new bronze powder has potential for bearings. Included in this report the aluminum alloys and their applications, more ductile aluminum castings, heat and corrosion resistant steels, zinc alloys for permanent mold casting and in wrought grades, and bronze powders.
