By comparison with more than 300 test results of other researchers, it is shown how simply the ultimate strength of composite beams with one or two spans can be predicted with a realism that is completely sufficient for design purposes. When an adequate ductility of the sagging moment sections and a sufficient number of shear connectors is provided, the ultimate strength of continuous systems can be predicted with help of plastic hinge mechanisms.
