COAL PREPARATION INTO THE 1990's.

This article looks at some of the new techniques that are emerging from the NCB's R&D work and explains how they might be applied. The market will influence the seams to be worked, their method of extraction and subsequent preparation. Both capital and operating costs will have to be controlled in order to improve competitiveness, therefore plant and process design, operational manning and maintenance procedures will come under close scrutiny.
