Models of regular Vierendeel type metal structures are tested. Different ratios of beam-to-column stiffnesses, dimensions, panel numbers and support conditions were assumed. Resonance frequencies and vibration modes of nodes were investigated in seven frames. As computational models a sheared beam, a two-layer beam, a Timoshenko beam and a generalized bar model are considered. Results of calculations of the natural vibration frequencies and modes are compared with test results. It is concluded that bar models may be used in engineering calculations. The choice of a bar model depends on the structural characteristics. In bar models account is taken of elastic nodes and static axial forces.
