The author describes how Teletype Corporation uses hard chrome plating to selectively plate the moving parts in the mechanism of its new Model 43 printer. Although several coatings were evaluated for this job, hard chromium was found to meet all the necessary requirements - hardness, wear resistance and corrosion resistance. The choice of hard-chrome plating on model 43 parts also provides a product of high reliability and long life.
