Not a bridge too far

The professional aspects and achievements of Richard Deacon, managing director for the highways and transportation division of WS Atkins, are discussed. Richard won the Unwin Prize for being top of the final year at Imperial College, London, where he gained a first-class honours in engineering. He started with Atkins as a senior group engineer and developed taking greater responsibility with greater number of staff and projects as he went along. As MD, he has to keep balance between two main aspects, firstly running day to day business, and secondly delivering services to the customers which means delivering results for the company also.
