The uMOS Development System provides a completely integrated disk-based package which includes a compiler, interpreters, and a text editor, all resident in less than 6K bytes of memory. The compiler generates a compressed version of the final application program along with a 512-byte uFORTH support nucleus. If uFORTH and the application program require 8K bytes on the uMOS Development System, they usually need a total of only 1 to 1. 5K bytes in the target system. The interactive nature of uFORTH results in ease of use, greatly reduced program development time, and ease of program expansion and modification. Application programs can be coded at high level or at assembly level depending on the specific speed and memory requirements of each module of the application.
