LLDPE continues to progress in Western Europe. Its percent of the film market has increased from 5% in 1983 to 12% in 1986. LLDPE is mainly used for films, and progression in this market will depend on the competitivity of the quality of resins. General properties of LLDPE are at least equivalent, only and often superior to those of LDPE. Only optical properties are inferior to those of classical LDPE. This problem has now been solved by the development of highly transparent grades.
