An investigation of the relationship between the steady-state creep rate epsilon //s and time to rupture t//r in low-alloy steels with Mo or V additions has confirmed the validity of the Monkman-Grant expression t//r epsilon //s**m equals c where m and c are constants, m varying between 0. 72 and 0. 76. The validity of a modified expression which takes into account the effect of the overall creep deformation has been also confirmed. The validity of both relationships is independent of chemical composition, steel microstructure, temperature in the temperature range from 550-600 degree C considered, and applied stress.
