摘要
Faced with rising life-cycle costs of new equipment, the U. S. Air Force has implemented a new program to reduce maintenance and support costs of new equipment. Known as R&M 2000, this program provides strong incentives for defense companies to change the way they design their products. R&M 2000 encourages the development of new reliability and maintainability technology and its incorporation into new designs at the earliest possible point. This will have some significant effects on the current defense industry.
