USA-based Research Inc sold its first computer control system to the glass industry in 1977. Intial acceptance of this new technology was slow but over the past three years, market acceptance has increased significantly and, today, the company has in excess of 40 systems installed. These are at glass plants producing containers, flat glass, tableware and glassfiber. One company that has recently converted to computer control is USA-based flat glass manufacturer AFG Industries Inc.
