摘要：
The system suggested for uniform specification of the mechanical properties of steels by producers as well as users takes all existing regulations and standards into consideration. The proposal stipulates that for every grade of steel a minimum tensile strength and an absolute minimum of elongation be specified, and a table or system of curves be supplied showing a minimum elongation for each measured tensile strength. Examples are given. The proposal has been accepted as the basis for further work in the field by the large producers of Diesel engines in Europe.
