摘要
The manifold applications of remote data processing and its expansion to ever new fields has inevitably intensified the demand for more data security. In all applications there is an interest that all information arrives unmutilated at no other destination than that desired by its sender. The interconnection between data security and data protection is described. The risks to which the transmitted information is exposed are outlined. The different aspects of data security lead us to considerations of suitable steps to be taken. Even if man represents the weakest link in the information chain, a number of measures applied in the data systems and in the associated telecommunication systems allows us to improve data security. An overview is given of the different possibilities of increasing security in the transmission of data in public telecommunication networks. They comprise technical and legal provisions as well as precautions taken in the staff and organizational sectors. An analysis of the risks has to weigh the required effort against the value of the information to be protected.
