This standard provides requirements and guidance for a quality assurance program for the design of nuclear fuel reprocessing facilities involving structures, systems, and components whose satisfactory performance is required: to prevent accidents that could cause undue risk to the health and safety of the public; or to mitigate the consequences of such accidents if they were to occur. The requirements of this standard may also be extended to other structures, systems, and components in whole or in part as specified by the purchaser.
