Studies were performed in the laboratory using an actual treatment system to compare the removal of phosphate from laundry wastewater by chemical precipitation using calcium chloride, alum, and ferric chloride. Parameters measured included odor, clarity, pH, total hardness, alkalinity, and phosphate removal. The volume and settling characteristics of the phosphate flocs were indicated.
